Investment Process

If you have any type of investment account with FM Financial or GuideStream, you may wonder how your investments are chosen. Because this is a matter of utmost importance, we have a whole team working on it!

It begins with the internal Chief Trust Officer / Investment Manager (CTO) working with the President / Chief Investment Officer, who is a Certified Investment Management Analyst™. The CTO oversees and coordinates the investment process and makes sure each step happens systematically. The CTO also works closely with our internal Investment Management Committee, which is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating our investment strategy. This committee meets quarterly, or more frequently as needed.

In addition to our internal staff, FM Financial’s Board of Directors has a designated Board Investment Committee that meets at least quarterly to evaluate investment performance, review significant policy issues, and make recommendations. All recommended policy revisions flow through the full board for approval.

An investment consultant is also key to our process. This third-party investment firm specializes in non-profits and mission-led organizations. It provides expertise, technical resources, research, analytics, oversight, advocacy, reporting, and other investment-related services to assist us and meet our clients’ diverse needs.

As our client, we want you to know we appreciate the trust you place in us as we manage investments on your behalf. If you have questions, our staff is always available to answer questions related to our investment policy.
